Question: What if I don't want to camp?
Answer: In addition to Chris' Campground, there is always a "Host Hotel" located nearby for the BMW Stampede. The host hotel for 2008 is yet to be determined, but we will have the link and contact information up for you shortly.
Question: Is the Black Hills BMW Stampede just a BMW motorcycle rally?
Answer: No, if you have two wheels and can ride, you're invited to attend.
Question: What is the riding like in the Black Hills?
Answer: Riders skill rating on roads in the Black Hills has a wide range from easy to difficult. A "motorcycle skill map" of the Black Hills is available at the Stampede registration desk upon request. This map is put out by the A.B.A.T.E. of South Dakota and will highlight every Black Hills route with a colored skill level. As always: Know Your Bike, Know Your Limit, Watch For Wildlife, and Drive Defensively.
Question: Is this rally anywhere around Sturgis SD, home to one of the largest motorcycle rallies held in the world.
Answer: Yes, Sturgis is about 15 minutes away from the rally site in Spearfish. We always hear how everyone wants to come to Sturgis and the Black Hills to see and ride it, but without all the traffic and commotion! Well, here your chance to do just that! Keep in mind, Sturgis BMW is located right off of I-90 (Exit 32) in Sturgis for any service needs as well.
Question: What are the Black Hills Like?
Answer: If you haven't been to the Black Hills of South Dakota, then prepare yourself for one unique riding experience. The home of Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial, the Black Hills offers everything you would expect from a mountain vacation. Be sure to visit www.blackhillsbadlands.com this is an information rich website that will show you everything the hills have to offer.
Question: What is the average annual attendance of the rally?
Answer: The BMW Stampede is rather new. It is in its 5th year of operation, and has seen steady growth each year. Last year over 200 riders attended the rally. Since the International is happening just four days before the Stampede and is located only 90 miles away. You can be sure that attendance is going to be considerably higher.
Question: Where can I get service for my motorcycle at the rally?
Answer: Sturgis Yamaha/BMW/Suzuki is located just 20 miles away from the Stampede campground and has been the official sponsor of the BMW Stampede. You can schedule service and maintenance by calling Sturgis BMW at 605-347-2636. Be sure to tell them that you are coming for the Stampede.

Question: Is the new series "Deadwood" that appears on HBO based on Deadwood, S.D.
Answer: Yes, the historic city of Deadwood played a major role in providing information on historical facts and figures during that 1876 time period. In fact, the Stampede Rally is being held just 13 miles from Deadwood and the Poker Run goes right through the town. If you haven't seen the series, you need to check it out and then visit the real thing. Visit "Wild Bill's" or "Calamity Jane's" gravesite or stop in at the Old Style Saloon #10 and see the actual chair Wild Bill was sitting in when he was shot. Gambling is legal in this "Old West" town and Main street gunfight re-enactment's are a common site during the summer.
Question: Is it necessary to Pre-Register
Answer: It is not required that you Pre-Register, but we STRONGLY recommend that you do. Pre-Registration will guarantee you a spot at the rally, help eliminate delay when checking in, and gives us and the city and idea of rally numbers so we are better prepared to offer an enjoyable experience.
